Build in public
I have always been a "learning by doing" person, just reading has never given me a complete understanding.
That's why I start side projects as soon as I enroll in a new course or, more generally, find a way to practice as soon as possible when I learn new things.
I already wrote posts about my side projects here, however, I feel that these posts, although helpful to write, were still initial attempts and did not strengthen my participation in the projects.
Jumping from one blog to another, i got in touch with the “build in public” movement , which seems very inspiring.
I decided to make a change to my theme, replacing the “notes” category, unused, with a new aggregator category, “Build in public” (BIP).
This new section, also findable in the menu above, will shows posts from future projects for which I will follow the BIP method.
The main goals are:
- Reinforcing my commitment to projects
- Sharing what I learn
- Telling both the good and the bad of the journey
- Receiving feedback (this would be awesome)
I can't say what the level of detail of my posts will be, I think I'll find a suitable way while writing, without going too deep into tech, because that's not my point here.
The BIP section will be the linchpin of this journey, but I am going to start using some social network too.
I have never been really involved in social networks for personal sharing, so this is kind of new to me.
After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to use:
I will probably share there what I post here, but nothing is set in stone, and I could change everything as time goes by, time will tell.
I have been thinking a lot about the use of social networks, precisely because of the fact that I have never really used them.
In the end I decided to try some, because it also represents a way for me to get out of my comfort zone.
I also think they might help in making connections with other people who are interested in building in public, and I hope this will generate more feedback.
However, this blog definitely remains the central element in this new journey.
What about you?
Have you ever created anything following the "Build in public" method?
Do you have any advice for me?
Contact me, I'm happy to talk about it.
